Edward Gibbon (1737-1794) was a famous English historian who is most know for ‘The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire’. Gibbon was born in London but he appeared to be a keen traveller visiting all the most important places of Europe. Despite of his letterer fame Gibbon was criticized for his view upon christianity.

'The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' — is the most notable work by Edward Gibbon that studies the history of the Western Civilization begginning from the rise of the Roman Empire. The book is divided into six volumes.
