Poems of Paul Verlaine

Poems of Paul Verlaine

Paul-Marie Verlaine (30 Mar 1844 – 8 Jan 1896) was a French poet associated with the Symbolist movement. He is claimed to be one of the biggest figures in French Symbolism. Verlaine graduated the Lycée Impérial Bonaparte and took up a civil service post afterwards. He started to write poetry when he was quite young, and was deeply influenced by the Parnassien movement. Russian poet Boris Pasternak was among Verlaine’s admirers.
Poems of Paul Verlaine reflect the very essence of symbolism in poetry and are a great asset to French literature of all time.
