Kill Game: A Cold Poker Gang Mystery

Kill Game: A Cold Poker Gang Mystery

USA Today bestselling author Dean Wesley Smith takes you into the world of his acclaimed novel Dead Money with a new series about a group of retired Las Vegas Police detectives playing poker and solving cold cases.
Retired Detective Bayard Lott hosts the weekly poker games at his home. The group calls themselves the Cold Poker Gang. And they succeed at closing old cases.
Lott's very first homicide case as a brand-new detective had gone cold more than twenty years earlier. But retired Reno detective Julia Rogers, new to the Cold Poker Gang, suggests they look at that case again for personal reasons.
From that simple suggestion spins one of the strangest and most complicated murder mystery puzzles the gang has ever seen.

  • Sophomoric

I feel like a 17 year old wrote this book: "he sure liked her smile, she sure liked his smile, he hoped she liked him, she hoped he liked her, he sure was handsome, she sure was pretty or some such at least every other page. The plot however wasn't so bad though I won't read this author again.

  • Women’s romance novel

Entirely too many unnecessary paragraphs about Detective Lott’s eyes!

  • I did not enjoy this book

Riddled with grammatical mistakes, spelling errors, and horrible cliches. There are also odd moments in the story where one of the characters suddenly has immense sex appeal to a woman he is interviewing about her dead husband. One more oddity is the author’s obsession with describing how wonderful KFC is. This book is really poorly written.

  • Kill Game: The Cold Poker Mysteries

As an avid reader of Robert Ludlum, Ken Follett, and recently David Baldaccci , I was really excited to read Dean WesleySmith’s creation. I read the novel in one night. It was wonderfully written with a twisty plot, unexpected directions and the surprising but fun addition of romance, not usually found in thrillers. It was just a great, different and for me,not too disgusting crime novel. So many think that the more debased the behavior the better the book, but NO this is high level decent entertainment and we thank you for it. I’ve gotta new author to read!
