so disappointed. very amateur writing. couldn't even get through 1/4 of the book. big disservice to an otherwise interesting historical period.

I really enjoyed this book.

A pretty good story about a difficult time. It jumps around from decade to decade and would have been just as good if it had been told chronologically. Too many character names beginning with "L" such that you have to think who is who when you come upon a name.
