In the gripping conclusion to the action-packed “standard bearer” (Booklist) of zombie series, the threat of death is given new life.
Benny Imura and his friends have found the jet and Sanctuary—but neither is what they expected. Instead of a refuge, Sanctuary is a hospice, and the soldiers who flew the plane seem to be little more than bureaucrats who have given up hope for civilization’s future. With Chong hovering between life and death, clinging to his humanity by a thread, Benny makes a startling discovery: A scientist may have discovered a cure for the zombie plague. Desperate to save Chong, Benny and his friends mount a search and rescue mission. But they’re not the only ones on the hunt. The reapers are after the cure too, and they want to use it turn all the zombies into superfast shock troops—and wipe humanity off the face of the earth.
In this riveting conclusion to the Rot & Ruin series, the battle to end all battles is just beginning.
Reviews
This has been my favorite book so far in the Rot And Ruin series. The characters have changed so much. I am in love with this series and I have read it over and over again. I think this book is a lovely, well written piece, not only because of my love for zombies, but for the heart in it. There is so much love and it shows that even in the hardest times, you still have family and people who will care and take care of you and will stop at absolutely nothing to save you. It talks multiple times about going into 'the abyss'. I feel it's a very beautiful and inspirational thought. This book will make your heart melt. It's not just about love and family. It's about the true evils of the world of the apacolypse, and how no matter what the consequences, you can make a difference and overcome anything. It shows how teamwork, love, family, and being "Warrior Smart" can make a HUGE difference. Reading this book is not only entertaining, but it is exciting and, (will make you cry), makes you feel like your part of the family. I love how it brings Tom into the picture and it is amazing. Jonathan Maberry is a VERY talented author and should NEVER stop writing. His work inspires me to write my own stories. In the end, this is a beautiful and well-written book and I will DEFINATELY re-read it, and I will DEFINATELY cry a lot. :)

This Trilogy really was great, I've been reading it for months now and I got to say I love it. Benny and all the "samurai" were great characters. The imagery made it feel as if it were in my own yard. What was also great was how Jonathan made the zombies feel as if they were always human which added a new perspective to me and the way I thought about them. I'm sad that it is over but this was a wonderful trilogy for me to read. I hope Maberry makes more amazing books like these.
