While this was a “filler” book, I loved the characters so much. The concept of the mantle failing that could cause the fall of the Refuge and end of the world. While unexpected, the events made sense. I loved how Nalini connects all her books and has Easter eggs in book one that she can still expand on now. I love that we finally meet an ancient and the connection to the Legion. Such a great series. Can’t wait for the next book.

The characters are getting repetitive and the storyline isn’t as strong as previously. I don’t feel invested enough to buy the upcoming books and I previously was a huge fan.
