What Happens At Christmas

What Happens At Christmas

You are cordially invited to Christmas at Millworth Manor. . .

Camille, Lady Lydingham, requests the pleasure of your company at a festive house party, as she endeavors to coax a marriage proposal from Prince Nikolai Pruzinsky of Greater Avalonia.

The hostess's relatives will be in attendance--in this case, a troupe of actors hired to impersonate a proper English family in order to fool the Prince.

Gate-crashing, distractingly handsome first loves like Grayson Elliott are most unwelcome.

Games will be played.

Motives will be revealed.

Mayhem may ensue.

And hearts will be won--and lost--in the most romantic, magical season of all.

  • What a disappointment!

Well, I invested enough time in reading this book to get to page 586 or thereabouts, not a gripping or fabulous read, but engaging enough, a “safe” Victorian-era-type book, and then all of a sudden it was like someone else took over the writing - and turned it into a porn novel! I had to skip over four or so pages to get past that, and then stopped altogether. Why take the chance that it would continue? I am not a prude, but feel snookered by the sudden dramatic change in writing style. Had there been any hint that that would be happening, I would have saved myself the time and stopped reading far earlier. Just be warned, that’s all....

  • Extremely original!

I consider myself a bit of an historical romance "connoisseur". THIS is most definitely NOT "just the same ole story". The storyline of this novel is so outrageous as to be completely believable. (There's a reason the phrase "truth is often stranger than fiction" even exists!) In fact, I could totally see this plot as a rom-com movie set in today's world. This is an excellent book. Read it! You'll thank me.

  • What Happens At Christmas

Victoria Alexander has done it again by creating a story of whimsy about the lives of the Victorian English nobility in an age of innocence. Her characters are likable and creative often discovering themselves in untenable positions. Her protagonist delightfully manages the impossible to arrive at her long desired future several years late. The tale is delightful living up to its genre of a romance novel.
