Man, 78, charged over death of woman

A 78-year-old man has been charged over the death of a woman in Glasgow.

Margaret McGowan, 71, was found seriously injured at a house in Newfield Square, Nitshill, shortly before 9.45pm on Saturday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said officers had attended the property following a report of a disturbance. The force said the suspect - who has not been named - was charged in connection with Ms McGowan's death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
