Man accused of murdering mother and attempting to kill father

A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his mother and attempting to murder his father in a knife attack in Inverness.

Emergency crews were called to the city's Craigton Avenue at about 7.30pm on Sunday following reports of two injured people at a house. A 55-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The woman died on Monday. Thomas Fraser, 30, was arrested and charged by Police Scotland in connection with the incident.

Fraser appeared before Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday, where he was accused of murder as well as assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder. He is due back in the dock within the next eight days..
