Woman charged with murder of Polish woman who disappeared 15 years ago

A woman has been charged with the murder of Izabela Zablocka who disappeared 15 years ago, Derbyshire Police have said.

Ms Zablocka, a Polish national, came to the UK in 2009 - and lived in the Normanton area of Derby. She lost contact with her family in August 2010 when she was 30.

However, new information recently came to light and a murder investigation was launched a fortnight ago. Officers have since found human remains - believed to be those of Ms Zablocka - in the garden of a property on Princes Street in Normanton.

Police have now charged Anna Podedworna, 39, of Boyer Street, Derby, with murder. She was also charged with preventing a lawful burial and perverting the course of justice.

Podedworna remains in custody, and will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Friday. Two other women, aged 39 and 43, and two men, aged 41 and 48, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have all been bailed pending further inquiries..
