Co-op offers 25% off £40 shop to members
Co-op is offering its members a 25% discount on a £40 shop as a "thank you" gesture after a major cyberattack caused disruption in stores.
The retailer's stock was affected due to the attack in May, leaving shelves bare, and payments were disrupted. Hackers also stole personal data including members' names and contact details.
Co-op was among several retailers like Marks & Spencer (M&S) and Harrods to have been hit by a cyberattack recently, with bosses at M&S saying the incident was likely to cost the business around £300m. Co-op announced the offer to its 6.5 million members who supported the business during the cyberattack as its 2,300 food stores returned to usual trading.
The offer runs from 18 to 24 June and can be used by members, including new ones, once.
