Human remains found by builders may belong to children, say police

Human remains found by builders in Lancashire may belong to children, according to police.

Fylde police officers were contacted at 12.37pm on 15 August after builders working on a house in Cleveland Road in Lytham found what they believed to be bones. After confirming the remains are human, police have said that "they may be that of children".

The discovery is not being treated as suspicious, however, and officers believe "this is an isolated historical burial". "This is an incredibly sad discovery, and we are continuing our inquiries to establish the identity of the remains, including their age and how they died," said DI Andrew Crook of West CID.

"We would like to thank the homeowners and contractors for their patience whilst our inquiries were ongoing at the property." The remains have now been removed from the property, and inquiries will continue to attempt to identify who they are, police said. Police have asked for anyone with information that could assist in identifying them to get in touch on 101 quoting log 0616 of 15 August..
