Man appears in court accused of sexually assaulting boy at campsite

A man has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy at a campsite in the Scottish Highlands.

An investigation was launched following a report of a schoolboy being approached inside his tent at the Loch Ness Bay campsite in Drumnadrochit between 12.20am and 1am on Thursday 31 July. Police Scotland arrested and charged John Bell, 44, in connection with the case.

Bell, of Grangemouth in Falkirk, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday. The suspect made no plea to the single charge of sexual assault on a young child.

He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
