Man arrested over metal theft at exploded house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing metal from a house just before it exploded in Bradford, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Southfield Lane at 10.10pm on Saturday to reports of an explosion, West Yorkshire Police said. They found the property, which was unoccupied, "significantly" damaged, and two adjacent ones also impacted.

A man, woman and boy from a nearby house are in hospital having suffered minor injuries, according to the force. On Sunday, detectives said they had arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of metal theft at the property just before the explosion.

He is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the force added. The empty house has been made safe and a police cordon put in place..
