Tributes paid to 'murdered' two-year-old girl - as man charged with rape

The family of a two-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered have paid tribute to the toddler.

Isabelle Rose Welsh died in hospital following an incident in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, on 13 September, Cleveland Police said. In a statement issued through the force, her family said: "Rest in peace Isabelle, fly high little girl.

Forever two." Cleveland Police said her family were "devastated by her death and have asked for privacy as they begin to grieve the unimaginable loss of a child". The force added: "Specialist officers are supporting the family and our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time." The man has also been charged with rape. The pair appeared at Teesside Crown Court on 19 September and were remanded in custody ahead of their next court appearance on 6 November..
