Uxbridge triple stabbing suspect appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with killing a man and injuring two others following a triple stabbing in west London.  Safi Dawood appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The 22-year-old, who was also charged with one count of possessing an offensive weapon, was remanded into custody. He is due to appear at London's Old Bailey within the next 48 hours.

It comes after a 49-year-old man, Wayne Broadhurst, died in a stabbing in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, around 5pm on Monday. Another man, 45, and a 14-year-old boy were also injured.

The man remains in hospital with life-changing injuries and the teenager has been discharged, prosecutor Theo Woodhead told the court. The Home Office previously confirmed that Dawood was an Afghan national who arrived in the UK via a lorry in November 2020, and was granted asylum and leave to remain two years later..
