Rudolf Erich Raspe,  (1737 — 1794), German scholar, librarian, writer and enterpriser mostly known as the author of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. In 1767, he was appointed professor in Cassel, and subsequently librarian. He also worked for the famous publisher John Nichols on several projects.
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is a novel by Rudolf Raspe. The narrative revolves around one German noble, who sought his fortunes in foreign military service.
