This is a book that should be passed down through the generations. It is well written and it really captures the Marine Corps spirit & hardships as if you were there. Chesty showed you how to not only to do a thorough job as a soldier & a leader, but also how to genuinely care about the people who served with him, no matter their rank. How to disciple with love, understanding & justice, but with firmness so it never happens again. It’ll make you laugh, cry, be outraged on Chesty’s behalf & wish you were a Marine yourself. All of those lucky enough to be a Marine (Retired & Current), will appreciate the way that this story was told; not in fantasy land, but in a truthful way that was a real page turner. I couldn’t put it down! It’s going to be a reread to remind me as guide through life of perseverance, fairness, caring, professionalism, humor, thoroughness & love. And this book will be in at least 2 Christmas stockings this year.
