First off, I can’t believe this is the same author who wrote Shatter Me. Her authors voice and style of writing felt completely different to me. I enjoyed this book, but I felt like she over-explained everything. In the middle of a tense scene she would give a huge info dump about emotions, history, world building or whatever else and I didn’t like to. I would find myself skipping to get back to the story. Other than that, I enjoyed the read and will probably read the next.

So I love this author, but this was a tough book to get into. Lots of information but feels more like knowledge than world building. Chapter five is where things finally pick up then the following chapters rapidly increase with intrigue and intensity! Getting around the concept of iblees is also something to get used. Because I love this author I will read the following installment hopefully it’s more adventure and less book study.

I happened upon this book by chance, it was put under the options of another author I was looking at in iBooks. I’m glad I did! I love the character building and detail, in a way, it reminds me of an Aladdin storytelling. Not a bad thing! You get to know the characters well and I can’t wait to read the second book
