Shatter Me

Shatter Me

The gripping first installment in New York Times bestselling author Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series.

One touch is all it takes. One touch, and Juliette Ferrars can leave a fully grown man gasping for air. One touch, and she can kill.

No one knows why Juliette has such incredible power. It feels like a curse, a burden that one person alone could never bear. But The Reestablishment sees it as a gift, sees her as an opportunity. An opportunity for a deadly weapon.

Juliette has never fought for herself before. But when she’s reunited with the one person who ever cared about her, she finds a strength she never knew she had.

And don’t miss Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series!

I’ve seen sooo many people who absolutely adore this book but to me it felt really bland. The only interesting character was Aaron Warner but he doesn’t get as much page-time as i would’ve liked. Adam is extremely boring and Juliette is ok, but she is a bit annoying at times too. Imo, this is much more of a romance book than anything else and the romance just isn’t…good. I do like the idea though but i feel it coul’ve been improved. Ok, in general, but felt disappointed.

  • Hmm

So I don’t like this book. The characters are just kinda boring and I don’t know it’s just not giving the feeling I think books should give. And mind you I have just about liked every book I’ve read. All the popular books that people recommend I usually thoroughly enjoy but not this one. The insta love between Adam and Juliette is just kind of icky. And the fact that I feel like the author had so many opportunities to give us some plot twist. But it gave nothing in the first half of the book. The only reason that this got 2 starts instead of 1 is, when I was reading, I did want to keep reading. BUT I struggled to pick it back up. There was nothing pulling me back to read this. I stopped halfway through. And apparently people say “it gets better in the second book” or after the second book or whatever. No thank you. It should be good now. I shouldn’t have to purchase 2 books for it to start getting good. And it’s not even about the purchasing, it’s more about that I shouldn’t have to suffer through a boring and predictable story. So yeah. Take this as you will. I enjoyed ACOTAR, red queen, the hunger games, and a lot of romcoms, but the feels just weren’t in this one.

  • Horrible

Don’t waste your money or time. The writing is good for the first few chapters and then gets progressively more sloppy. The only good thing was how realistically she portrayed the effects of abuse. The characters fall flat, and the plot feels rushed. Writing feels amateur, I read this twice and really wanted to like not but no. Maybe good if you’re 10-13. Read shadow and bone or acotar or cruel prince instead.
