From the master of subversive humor Christopher Moore comes a quirky, irreverent novel of love, myth, metaphysics, outlaw biking, angst, and outrageous redemption.
As a boy, he was Samson Hunts Alone—until a deadly misunderstanding with the law forced him to flee the Crow reservation at age fifteen. Today he is Samuel Hunter, a successful Santa Barbara insurance salesman with a Mercedes, a condo, and a hollow, invented life. Then one day, destiny offers him the dangerous gift of love—in the exquisite form of Calliope Kincaid—and a curse in the unheralded appearance of an ancient god by the name of Coyote. Coyote, the trickster, has arrived to reawaken the mystical storyteller within Sam...and to seriously screw up his existence in the process.
Reviews
After reading Coyote Blue, possibly one of Christopher Moore's most touching novels, I have only one of his works to add to my personal library. His brilliance lies not only in creating works that dare its readers NOT to laugh aloud but introduces us to some of the most enjoyably dysfunctional yet inviting characters in recent literature. His compassion for every sentient life form on the planet, and occasionally for elsewhere is refreshing and conveyed with wit and wisdom of the most insightful sage. Thank you, Christopher, for gracing the landscape of American fiction with breathtaking vistas and mesas, while continuing to drop the odd coyote or three.

Being a die hard Moore fan, I highly recommend this one. You would think it would be hard to like the main character in the beginning as Moore paints him to be the most boring person on the planet, but the story uses this to its advantage and ends up being a funny and touching story. The humor is crass but what I love about Moore is how subtlety he crafts love stories in every one of his books, so subtly you never see it coming until the characters are face sucking on the page. Bravo to this and all of his work.
