Hesiod, Homeric Hymns, and Homerica, in English translation
This volume contains practically all that remains of the post-Homeric and pre-academic epic poetry, including: Works and Days, and Theogony both attributed to Hesiod; Homeric Hymns and Epigrams of Homer both attributed to Homer; plus various fragments such as Fragments of the Epic Cycle. According to Wikipedia: "Homer is a legendary ancient Greek epic poet, traditionally said to be the author of the epic poems the Iliad and the Odyssey. The ancient Greeks generally believed that Homer was a historical individual, but modern scholars are skeptical: no reliable biographical information has been handed down from classical antiquity, and the poems themselves manifestly represent the culmination of many centuries of oral story-telling and a well-developed "formulaic" system of poetic composition."
