The text is crisply written, without archaic expressions used in “traditional” English Bibles, and incorporating the oldest sources available (for example, findings from the Dead Sea scrolls.) It is very well footnoted, to explain obscure or unclear bits in the text, and even to identify where authorities are uncertain about a translated term (typically from rarely used ancient expressions in the Old Testament.). It also presents certain passages in [square brackets] to identify text that varies in the most ancient editions, or which was determined to be a later addition to the original text. Further, I think non-Catholics don’t need to worry about editorial comments laced with Catholic doctrines. Any such bits are rare, if they are present at all. I once spot-checked this version against my wife’s Protestant version (NSV?) and found the 2 nearly identical. Given this observation, I would recommend this version over that to Everyone, for 2 reasons: (1) NABRE has much better footnotes & cross-references, and (2) Catholic Bibles are always a better value since you get more books per dollar! (Protestant Bibles omit those books they deem apocrypha.)
