What did you fight for? The man was fired by a President that cared more about hanging out with Jay Z. I was under McChrystal's command in Iraq during the bloodiest days. He managed to build a Task Force of all the three letter agencies and military which is unprecedented. He is responsible for killing the most wanted man in iraq. Obama came into office and made him the Commander of all NATO forlces. McChrystal was never a Politician but tried for his Country. Biden spoke bad of him when becoming the Vice President. McChrystal was a Ranger and in the Special Forces. This book is great!!! The man gets paid for running with Business executives in the morning and teaching them his style of leadership. He still works out, only sleeps 4 hours a day, and he might eat more than one meal a daynow. He accomplished what most Generqls didn't and you say he forgot he served? He is giving back to the community and deserves to make the money he makes. He comes off as egotistical at times but deserves that right. Most Americans don't even know what he has done while in service and a moron reporter killed a 30 plus year career. McChrystal is a civilian now get over it.

Good read about. Finally getting his viewpoint on his team during OIF and OEF. Only problem I had with the book is that he does not elaborate on his interaction with US leaders.... Namely Gates, Biden, and Obama......

The general writes about his experiences and views on leadership. It helps to know something about him first in my opinion. My son was his rescue operations briefer in Balad, Iraq and in Afghanistan. He watched the general on 3 or 4 deployments and was impressed by his constant leadership and considered the general a warrior's warrior. The general's physical ability to go on a Seal mission in the Afghan mountains, after Redwing, to illustrate his confidence in the Seals when his other operators felt the Seals were less than; is a good example of a four star going on a combat patrol to bolster the morale of his troops by direct, hands on, action. Perhaps his legacy will be his ability to organize the very best to help him, just by telling them they were needed.

Awesome read......very upfront and informative. The Gen was in charge of troops in Afghanistan when my son was serving there in 2010 and 2011 .
