Love, Pucks, and Other Stories

Love, Pucks, and Other Stories

I hated hockey players.
While the Rush had cleaned up their act and were no long wreaking havoc in my town, Joel—captain and a talented forward on the team—was wreaking havoc on my life.
He’d made it his mission to push my buttons on a regular basis.
The man was equal parts infuriating and distracting…
And gorgeous.
The worst part? I hadn’t expected that I would like him.
That I would want him.
That I would become desperate for him to want me back.

  • Can he convince her that he’s all in?

Love, Pucks, and Other Stories is the first book in the a new trilogy for the Rush Hockey team. Mayor Billie Rose and Rush Hockey player Joel can’t stand each other. Opposites in many ways, yet oddly drawn to one another. As Billie Rose takes on the daunting task of building her town up after the fire, Joel is realizing that someone needs to have Billie Rose’s back, too, and that someone should be him. But can he convince her that he’s all in, or will too many hurts from their past cause more pain? Oh my goodness, I read this book in one day. I was half in anticipation to see how Billie Rose and Joel can connection and find a space for each other, but half in epic fear of what would happen by the end of this book, knowing it’s a trilogy that will follow these characters the whole time. It hurts to know how much these characters are going through, it hurts to see the little slices of pain they both give to each other, but it was pure joy to watch them open up to the possibility of more and of love. Billie Rose is such a dynamic character. She’s always on the move, she’s completely selfless, and she has so much pain that she keeps shoving down. I loved her so much. Joel is determined and I loved that as much as he wanted to stay away, he just couldn’t resist her. And not only that, but could really see her. It was a great connection that was super tentative and fragile and some of the hurt just started to bleed away and then there was that ending. Holy smokes. You can’t just end a book like that! But I’m putting my faith and trust in Ms. Faber to see this couple to a happy ending when it’s all over.
