On August 13, 2018 Christopher Watts murdered his pregnant wife and two toddler daughters. Cheryln Cadle contacted him and started visiting him in prison. Christopher started writing her letters from his prison cell in Wisconsin. These letters had his confessions of things he had never told anyone else. Now she shares the letters and the truth about what happened that fateful night in Frederick Colorado to Shanann, Nico, Bella and Celeste Watts at the hands of their father. Was he just a monster or was it truly his girlfriend that he wanted to start a life with the reason he was willing to kill his family?

I’m not a writer, but the writing in this book is absolutely abysmal. It is riddled with grammatical errors and redundant words and phrases. Pacing? Forget about it. Topics change and repeat with no rhyme or reason. I felt like I was playing a game of whack-a-mole and I am extremely familiar with this case. Ironically, Chris’s letters are far more coherent and well-written than the painful vignettes written by the author. I suspect Chris’s letters can be found on a subreddit, so I’d advise going straight to them in order to bypass this travesty.

I think this was a great book about The Watts Family. I love that Chris Watts wrote letters and met with the author in jail. I truly believe that his letters do tell truth of how he annihilated his family.

This book was very well written and I like how the author uses letters from Chris Watts himself to tell his disgusting story. This man is a monster and his motives for killing his family are awful. I really appreciated the facts and respect shown to the family of Shan’ann. The Watts didn’t want this book published but I’m glad it was. They need to accept what their son did and stop hiding behind their hatred for poor Shan’ann. Great read!
