The Secrets Of Conjuring And Magic

The Secrets Of Conjuring And Magic

Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin (1805-71) is often called the father of modern conjuring. The best-known magician of his time, Robert-Houdin toured France, England and Germany and performed for Queen Victoria.
In this fascinating volume you will find the oft-quoted advice that “A conjuror is not a juggler; he is an actor playing the part of someone with real powers”. Originally published (in French) in 1868, Robert-Houdin describes in detail many magic tricks and includes a history of conjuring. In 1877 the book appeared in English, translation by Professor Louis Hoffmann (1839-1919). This is a Hey Presto remastered edition of the translated work first published in 1877.
