The his hymnal is a collection of the finest hymns and liturgy in Church. There is a pretty big flaw in this iBook edition, however. The hymn texts are unsearchable. Good luck finding a hymn based on a random line you remember.

The LCMS really put together a fantastic hymnal. It is rooted in the common and historic expression of the Christian church of all ages. It is solidly confessional and Lutheran. It is relevant and includes the contributions and expressions of the Christian faith recently offered to the church. The digital format of this hymnal contains all the same content as the physical book, with only small omissions to maintain clarity. The average user will not notice. However, this likely won’t be the go-to version for the organist and choir director. But all Christians will recognize the immeasurable value to their faith walk to have this hymnal available at your fingertips and with you wherever you bring your iPhone or iPad. I am quite pleased with this offering from the LCMS. Serving as a missionary in the field far from our sister congregation, this will be a great resource to have handy. Though I have a personal print edition as well, I will find this resourceful when traveling. The content will provide plenty for meditation, prayer, and song.
