Bob Marley - Uprising Live!

The Uprising Tour ran in Europe from May 30th to July 13th 1980 with five further dates in the USA in September. It was Bob Marley’s last tour before his tragically early death in May 1981 at the age of just 36. The tour was in support of the “Uprising” album released on June 10th 1980. A few days later on June 13th the live show from Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle was filmed for the famous German music TV series Rockpalast and is presented here for the first time with footage restored to the best possible quality. Bob Marley and the Wailers are on superb form and deliver a set of hit singles and classic album tracks. Marley’s energetic, charismatic performance gives no indication that he was already ill with the cancer that would take his life less than a year later. With very few Bob Marley live concerts available this will be a welcome addition for any fan.

United for the first time in film, the eleven international artists have taken their work from the streets to the screen. College Musical

The film follows college freshman Cooper (Sam Tsui) as he attempts to win the heart of his teaching assistant, Bianca (Allison Williams - "Girls"). Cooper is so enamored with Bianca that he cannot pay attention in English class during a midterm and is set to lose his college scholarship if his performance does not improve. Enter Nate (Miles Jacoby) and Lubo (Brennan Caldwell), Cooper's two roommates, who decide he must seduce his TA once and for all to boost his grade and overcome his insecurities about women. But Cooper ends up falling for his classmate Jackie (Julie Shain) instead, a girl he originally sees as a stepping stone in his path to romance with Bianca. In an additional twist, Jackie and Bianca are competing against each other in a prestigious essay contest, and Bianca turns into the movie's villain when her plans for winning the contest go awry. Without spoiling the rest, there has to be mention of a student with man-child syndrome (a fictional disease in which a grown man reverts to the mind and behavior of a child) who provides humor and is a crucial part of the plot. Being a musical, the film tells the story through a mix of spoken dialogue and spirited, vibrant song.

Jason Isbell: Live at Austin City Limits

Nashville, TN – On August 19, 2013, Jason Isbell and his band The 400 Unit, stepped out onto the stage in front of a live audience in Austin, TX to film his first appearance on the longest running original music series in the U.S., Austin City Limits. This special night for Isbell, his bandmates and all in attendance, will be released on DVD as Jason Isbell: Live at Austin City Limits on November 24 via Southeastern Records. Isbell performs songs from his critically acclaimed, award-winning album Southeastern along with songs from throughout his career, including fan favorites “Outfit” and “Decoration Day”. The set closed with a rousing rendition of the Rolling Stones’ “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, a live staple. (See track listing below). In September, Isbell won Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Cover Me Up”) and Album of the Year for Southeastern. In October, Isbell reached a major milestone by selling out three consecutive nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Fugazi - Instrument

This film features a collaboration between filmmaker Jem Cohen and the Washington D.C. band Fugazi, covering the 10 year period of 1987-1996. Far from a traditional documentary, this is a musical document; a portrait of musicians at work. The film includes concert footage, studio sessions, touring, interviews and portraits of audience members from around the country.

Move Me Brightly - Celebrating Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday

“Move Me Brightly” is a film based around a musical gathering at Bob Weir’s TRI Studios in San Rafael, California to mark what would have been Jerry Garcia’s 70th birthday on 3rd August, 2012. The revolving line-up of performers included fellow Grateful Dead members along with many guest artists who joined together to celebrate Jerry Garcia’s life and work. The evening’s programme was originally conceived by film director Justin Kreutzmann, the son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill, and the complete five hour set was webcast live. This film combines live performances from the studio alongside interviews with Jerry Garcia’s family members, Grateful Dead bandmates and other musicians who played with or were inspired by him. It is fitting tribute to one of rock music’s most creative and imaginative composers and performers.

Shakespeare Live! From the RSC

The BBC and the Royal Shakespeare Company celebrate 400 years of William Shakespeare and his extraordinary legacy in this hugely ambitious event recorded live at Stratford-upon-Avon. The celebration is hosted by RSC actor and former Doctor Who David Tennant and features stage and screen luminaries Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, and Joseph Fiennes, as well as singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, The English National Opera, The Royal Ballet, and much, much more! The Shakespeare Show tells the story of Shakespeare's life through his own songs, sung by some unexpected faces, often in the places where he lived: from his childhood home, to the church where he was baptized and is now buried. This is a star-studded evening 400 years in the making!

Jeff Beck: Live in Tokyo

Jeff Beck is undeniably one of the world’s greatest guitar players. Technically brilliant, he is renowned for pushing musical boundaries and has excelled across many different genres from rock and jazz to pop and blues. “Live In Tokyo” was filmed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan on April 9th this year. These Japanese dates were the first to feature Jeff Beck’s new backing band of Jonathan Joseph (drums), Nicolas Meier (guitars) and Rhonda Smith (bass) and the setlist includes some material from his new, as yet unreleased, studio album. In contrast to Beck’s previous visual releases, both filmed in small clubs, “Live In Tokyo” is filmed in a major concert arena and has a very different, more expansive feel. Jeff Beck is a true guitar legend and this show captures him at his very best.

the bomb is an experimental, music-driven film that explores the strange, compelling, and unsettling reality of nuclear weapons. It features a memorable score by the electronica / rock band The Acid and takes viewers on a powerful, visceral journey through the culture and technology of nuclear weapons. the bomb has been called "stunning, avant-garde…unique and dazzling” by Entertainment Weekly, "thrilling" by Vice, and 'an abstract wonder" by the New York Observer. The film emerged from a collaboration between director and editor Kevin Ford, artist and filmmaker Smriti Keshari, author and filmmaker Eric Schlosser, the graphic artist Stanley Donwood, animator The Kingdom of Ludd, and installation designer United Visual Artists.
