Man, 18, charged with murdering 63-year-old in Ipswich

An 18-year-old man has been charged with murdering a 63-year-old man who was found dead on New Year's Day in Ipswich.

William McNicholl, known as Billy, was discovered with a stab wound to his shoulder and head injuries in a house on Hawthorn Drive. Jake McMillan, then 17, was arrested three weeks later before being bailed.

Suffolk Police rearrested him on Monday and charged him with murder and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Officers said the suspect used to live in Ipswich but was most recently based in Hackney, east London.

He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court later today. Police also revealed three others were arrested on 1 April.

A 17-year-old boy, 18-year-old man and 41-year-old man were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender and being concerned in the supply of class A and class B drugs. Police said a woman in her 50s, who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder, will face no further action..
