Renewed appeal to find missing mum a year on from her last sighting

A renewed appeal has been launched to find a missing mum from Cardiff, one year on from when she was last seen.

Police investigating the disappearance of Charlene Hobbs, 36, say a 46-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation has been re-arrested and released on bail. The last confirmed sighting of Ms Hobbs was in a photograph of her at a property in Broadway, in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff, on 24 July last year.

Her hair was tied in a bun, with a distinctive dragon tattoo on her back. In March, South Wales Police said it had launched a murder investigation into the disappearance of Ms Hobbs.

Police have so far spoken to 400 people linked to the investigation, visited 629 properties as part of enquiries, reviewed more than 1,000 hours of public and private CCTV and recorded more than 3,300 documents. The force said further searches, forensic examinations, and house-to-house enquiries are taking place.

The disappearance of Ms Hobbs, who is from the Adamsdown area of Cardiff, continues to be treated as a murder investigation by detectives. The charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell, from South Wales Police, said the investigation into Ms Hobbs's disappearance was "complex and meticulous". "Despite a huge number of enquiries, which are continuing, unfortunately no one has come forward with information about what has happened to Charlene or where she is," he added.

"We remain committed to finding Charlene and a specialist team of officers and staff are focused on the investigation."
