Three teenagers arrested over murder of 19-year-old who was stabbed to death

Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old in Bury.  The victim was attacked just before 9pm on Friday in a car park on Market Street.

He sustained several stab wounds and died hours later from his injuries. Three 19-year-old males were arrested across the weekend on suspicion of murder, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

One arrest took place at Manchester Airport at 4.30am on Sunday, while the others took place in Bolton and Bury on Saturday evening. All three remain in custody for questioning, the force said.

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton said he believes it was a "targeted attack" and there is no wider threat to the public. "This incident will have shocked the community and distressed anyone who witnessed it, but we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat. "Our officers will be in the area today and over the next few days as we try to establish what happened in the lead-up to this awful incident."
