Man appears in court charged with murder after human remains found at beauty spot

A suspect has appeared in court charged with murder amid a probe into the death of a man whose remains were discovered at a Loch Lomond beauty spot.

Graham Wright, 38, was last seen in Glasgow on 20 August and was reported missing five days later. A member of the public found his remains near to Rubha Dubh, at Firkin Point, on 13 September.

David McColl, 50, was arrested and charged in connection with Mr Wright's death. McColl has been accused of murder, attempting to defeat the ends of justice, and two counts of breaching bail conditions.

McColl, of Glasgow, made no plea to the four separate charges when he appeared at the city's sheriff court on Monday. He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

Police Scotland last week arrested and charged John Roarty, 53, in connection with the case. Roarty made no plea to the single charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice when he appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The suspect was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance.
