Illegal migrant worker crackdown sees record numbers of raids and arrests

A record number of illegal worker arrests and raids have been carried out by the Home Office in the past 18 months.

The number of raids has increased by 77% since July 2024, when Labour came to power, which has led to an 83% rise in arrests, according to government figures. More than 17,400 raids were carried out by the Home Office's immigration enforcement teams on businesses such as nail bars, car washes, barbers and takeaway shops.

This led to more than 12,300 arrests of those attempting to undercut workers and "hide in plain sight.
