Man charged with murder of woman who died in the street remanded in custody

A man charged with the murder of a woman has been remanded in custody.

Raymond Williams, 61, appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court accused of the murder of Tania Williams, in her 40s. Officers were called to Catherine Gardens in Thorpe St Andrew, outside Norwich, just before 11.45pm on Saturday, following reports of a woman injured in the street.

The woman was declared dead at the scene, Norfolk Police said. Williams, whose address was given as Catherine Gardens, spoke only to confirm his personal details when he appeared before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was not asked to enter a plea to the charge of murder during the two-minute-long hearing. Williams was remanded into custody and is due to appear before Norwich Crown Court on Thursday..
