Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson, the first Black woman to have received the honor of being awarded the prestigious recognition for her journalistic work. Her debut book, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, was published in 2010.
In her second nonfiction book, Caste, the author talks about the deeply entrenched biases and discrimination prevalent in American society, particularly those against Black Americans, and how those aggressions continue to affect their lives. She encourages the readers to stand against such prejudices and to strive to create a fair and transparent culture.
