Kyiv bombarded and Polish jets scrambled - despite key peace talks this weekend

Kyiv has come under attack and Polish fighter jets have been scrambled near its border with Ukraine - despite key peace talks taking place this weekend.

Kyiv was targeted by missiles and drones early on Saturday, along with regions in the northeast and south, according to the Ukrainian air force. Rzeszow and Lublin airports in southeastern Poland were temporarily ‍closed after the Polish armed ‌forces scrambled ‌fighter jets due to the Russian strikes ‍on Ukraine.

In a Telegram post, the Ukrainian air force said two explosions sounded in the Ukrainian capital, while an air raid alert remained in effect some four hours after being introduced. ‍There were no immediate reports of damage or power cuts.

Earlier, Donald Trump said President Zelenskyy "doesn't have anything until I approve it.
