The world knows H.P. Blavatsky chiefly by her encyclopedic knowledge of the occult.

Blavatsky’s Nightmare Tales (1892), foreshadows the ‘weird fiction’ tradition of horror in its hints that not all ancient knowledge is beneficial; indeed some aspects might be best left untouched.

Few writers have captured the living texture of the occult as well as Madame Blavatsky.

Each of the nine classic titles appearing in this collection are masterworks of intricate creation.

Each has stood the test of time, and are remarkable for their explorations of horror—with details so vivid as to make us shudder in our bones that we've just come in from a walk through hell ourselves.

H.P. BLAVATSKY (1831–1891) was a Russian occultist and esoteric philosopher, who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. She gained an international following through her writings. The influence of her life and teachings on world thought has been remarkable.
