Perfectly Wounded

Perfectly Wounded

The incredible true story of former Navy SEAL Mike Day, who survived being shot twenty-seven times while deployed in Iraq.
On the night of April 6, 2007, in Iraq's Anbar Province, Senior Chief Mike Day, his team of Navy SEALs, and a group of Iraqi scouts were on the hunt for a high-level al Qaeda cell. Day was the first to enter a 12x12 room where four terrorist leaders were waiting in ambush. When the gunfight was over, he took out all four terrorists in the room, but not before being shot twenty-seven times and hit with grenade shrapnel. Miraculously, Day cleared the rest of the house and rescued six women and children before walking out on his own to an awaiting helicopter, which flew him to safety.
While in the hospital, the Navy SEAL lost fifty-five pounds in two weeks. It took almost two years for Day to physically recover from his injuries, although he still deals with pain. Like so many veterans, doctors diagnosed Day with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury -- the invisible wounds of war.
Perfectly Wounded is the remarkable story of an American hero whose incredible survival defies explanation, and whose blessed life of service continues in the face of unimaginable odds.

I have always looked up to navy seals and service men alike for there service and the bravery. My dad was drafted in the army in Vietnam and was in the 11th armored Calvary regiment blackhorse. He faced his challenges through life and raised me with mental toughness. But life’s tough no matter how hard your prepAred. This book helped me realize I need to calm myself and helped me deal with my anxiety. Thank you mike day your service and your continued service through this book is an inspiration and helping hand

  • Awesome

This was a great read. God bless Mike for his service to our nation and for sharing his story. I think many people suffer silently and I know this had to be a difficult story to share. It touched me and I am sure it will continue to touch many more people for years to come. If you happen to read this review Mr Day thank you for your service, sacrifice, and story.

  • Absolutely Incredible!

A great look into the mind of an incredible inspiration and the healing and journey that comes from trauma in many forms. Very heavy material, but I’ve gotten different lessons every time I’ve read it

What an amazing story. Have a box of Kleenex because this story is as raw & real as it gets. It opens ones eyes to what our war hero’s go through. I could not put it down, I read it in a day. All I can say is there are so many hero’s out there. A lot need help. At last I’ll say Perfectly Wounded is so worth a read & the photo’s at the end are a great tribute. Thank you for your service & for surviving to tell your story.
