When Lani's grandmother unexpectedly dies, Lani sets out to find the only relative she has left – a long lost aunt who lives half a continent away. Lani's falls back on her only protection – her youth – as she makes her way to her aunt's. If Grandmother had taught Lani how to use her magic, things might have been different. Too bad Grandmother's ideas were ahead of her time – either that or the woman was downright lazy. Either way, Lani's magic remained untrained and wild, popping up at the most unexpected and inconvenient times. Then a stranger joins the caravan and wild magic becomes the least of Lani's concerns.
