Willard Huntington Wright a.k.a. S. S. Van Dine (Oct 15, 1888 – Apr 11, 1939) was an American writer, art critic and a big figure in New-York Avant-grade community. During his life he wrote a number of novels and short stories, but his most famous creation - a series of stories about the genius detective and aesthete - Philo Vance.

The Benson Murder Case is detective novel by S. S. Van Dine. The story follows Philo Vance, a New-York detective and aesthete. And, most and foremost, a dilettante. But destine has decided to let a murder happen, thus giving Vance a perfect chance to prove his worth.
