The Werewolf Snarls

The Werewolf Snarls

Manly Wade Wellman (1903–1986) is primarily remembered as an American writer of science fiction and fantasy (though his also dabbled in other genres). His stories appeared in such pulps as Astounding Stories, Startling Stories, Unknown, and Strange Stories, He is best known as one of the most popular contributors to the legendary Weird Tales, and for his fantasy and horror stories set in the Appalachian Mountains, which draw on the native folklore of that region. Karl Edward Wagner referred to him as “the dean of fantasy writers.”

“The Werewolf Snarls” is one of Wellman’s supernatural tales from Weird Tales, and it holds up well for modern readers.
