Heroes for My Son

Heroes for My Son

Since the birth of his son in 2003, bestselling novelist Brad Meltzer (The Book of Fate, The Tenth Justice, The Book of Lies) has been collecting heroes from whom his son can learn how to live a good life. In Heroes for My Son, Meltzer shares, with parents everywhere, the stories of 52 such heroes—from Dr. Seuss and Mr. Rogers to Mother Theresa and Mohandas Gandhi.

Reviews
  • Inspiring!

We never hear about stories like these anymore. True heroes and role models. We need more inspiration and less bickering. Can't wait to share this book with my son.

    By The Way It Is

  • Great Concept! Poor Execution!

I heard an interview with the author about this book on NPR, and thought I'd check it out. Unfortunately, the 'preview' provided by the Apple store only gives you the table of contents and the introduction. Pay close attention to the table of contents. Note especially that each chapter typically has three or four pages. Unless you're very knowledgeable about these heroes, you'd better hope your kids don't ask too many questions, as there are VERY few details. The "chapters" consist of maybe 10 or 12 sentences about each. Had I been given at least one chapter beyond the author's introduction, I'd have taken a pass. That's what I'd recommend to others considering purchasing this book.
