English Literature: Its History and Significance

*Illustrated
*Includes Table of Contents
*Includes timeline of Literary History and bibliography for further reference
William J. Long was an American writer best known in his day for his writing about nature, including theorizing that animals used instincts. Along with the scientific community of the early 20th century, Long participated in the era’s debates over nature and biology.
However, Long also wrote tomes about English literature and American literature as well. Billing his work as a possible text-book for schools about English literature’s history and significance, Long delved into history at length. In English Literature: Its History and Significance, Long presents biographies of the most famous writers in English literature over the last 1500 years, as well as discussions of the origins and importance of the most famous literature ever written. Long works his way from Beowulf to Shakespeare to Lord Byron and even scientists like Charles Darwin.
This edition of Long’s English Literature is specially formatted with a Table of Contents and is illustrated with dozens of the work’s original illustrations. It also includes a timeline and bibliography for further references.
