However Jew-wise Burton may have been, he had a strange bias favoring Islamic practitioners and Gypsies. As per the Preface below, this could have been due to Gypsy blood, but this idea was never proved. The Jew, tho' heavily expurgated, retains much important information about its subject, as do the other two sections.
