Tender Is The Night

Tender Is the Night is a novel written by American author of novels and short stories Francis Scott Fitzgerald in 1934. It was his fourth and final completed novel. The title is taken from the poem Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats.

Tender is the Night is often ranked with Fitzgerald's best work and it is about a glamorous couple Dick and Nicole Diver. The story takes place in Europe. Dick Diver was a doctor and psychoanalyst and had taken on a complicated case of neuroses. He married Nicole after he met her while working at a clinic in Switzerland during first Word War. Nicole’s relatives were wealthy, so the didn’t appreciate her marriage. Dick was forced to live two lives – life of doctor and husband.
