Le 5 octobre 2017, après des mois d’enquête, deux journalistes du New York Times publient un article dans lequel le producteur-star d’Hollywood Harvey Weinstein est accusé de harcèlement sexuel par 80 femmes. Dès lors, le raz-de-marée #MeToo est né. Jodi Kantor et Megan Twohey retracent dans ce livre le travail d’enquête qu’elles ont réalisé ensemble, de leurs rencontres en secret avec plusieurs actrices et anciennes employées de Weinstein pour les convaincre de témoigner, à la découverte de l’existence d’accords de non-divulgation et d’accords financiers conséquents pour acheter le silence des victimes. Prenant le temps de la réflexion, elles analysent aussi le mouvement, nous plongeant au cœur d'un changement sociétal sans précédent. Jodi Kantor et Megan Twohey sont journalistes d'investigation pour le New York Times. Elles ont reçu, avec d'autres collègues, le prix Pulitzer du service public pour leur travail sur l'affaire Weinstein.
