The Wake

Gathering for a funeral and wake to mourn the loss of their dear friend, the rebellious Spencer- his marriage fraught with trouble- and conservative, family man Dan join their free-spirited pal Ethan, a charismatic bon vivant. Their “wolf pack” is now short one- the late, great Jack, a modern-day Falstaff, and the former alpha of the group. His laughter and emboldened spirit are now alive only in their memories as they scatter for relief, taking a spontaneous road trip to Atlantic City. An invasive guest, Rachel - a younger, female student from NYU - shows up, interfering as filmmaker to capture the emotional truth with an astute eye- and a secret connection- to this wily crew. As grief fractures, it also illuminates, as they all face off with their own topsy-turvy lives. The weekend becomes a provocative, unexpected wake-up call as love, life and betrayals collide. Clearly, the Wake was only the beginning- as it turns out, living is the hard part.

LESTER (Anthony Montgomery) is a struggling African-American comedian who’s trying to make it doing comedy showcases while working a day job as one of the most hated people in Los Angeles… a meter maid. His stand-up is purely Louis CK-observational, but it seems like everyone in the industry, including his manager (and step-brother) KENNY (Joe Torry), want him to be the next Chris Rock. Lester is also madly in love with beautiful Indian-American NIRA (Sheetal Sheth), who seems to like him enough, but not enough to get past the friend-zone. In addition, he deals with the emotional ups-and-downs of his clinically depressed, attractive model Mom (Valerie Pettiford). Lester's best friend, TONY (Tom Huang), is a struggling Asian-American actor with the classic problem of only getting auditions for parts as Chinese delivery boys. Tony works multiple jobs to pay the bills, one of them being Spider-Man for kids’ parties, where he falls for a girl, KATIE (Lynn Chen) though he doesn’t even know what she looks like, since he meets her at a job dressed up in a Care Bear costume. Tony also futilely chases hot wanna-be actress AMBER (Emma Caulfield), who pretty much just uses him for his car and beer money. Together, Tony and Lester juggle relationships, family and the impending feeling of doom that they¹re never going to make it as they fail in Hollywood...

Roller Town

When mobsters set up shop in the quiet beach community of Brookfield and try to turn the roller rink, 'Roller Town,' into a money-making video arcade, local roller-skating hero Leo (Mark Little) is forced to fight back. There to help him are his best friends Music (a jive-talking break-dancer) (Adam Bayne) and Julia (a high-society rich girl/the girl of Leo’s dreams) (Kayla Lorette). The friends quickly find themselves outnumbered by a mob that infiltrates every part of the town. Before long, Roller Town is full of arcade machines, skaters have turned into gamers, and the whole town has fallen under the zombie spell of video games. Refusing to give up, Leo and his friends use the power of roller-skating, friendship and the boogie to thwart the mob’s plans and banish evil video games from the town forever.
