Who Is Clark Rockefeller?

Who Is Clark Rockefeller?

The Rockefeller tale begins with German con artist Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter (McCormack) coming to the U.S. in 1979 as a foreign exchange student. He used a series of aliases, impersonating a talk show host and a Pentagon adviser, among others. Gerhartsreiter soon became a fixture in Boston high society for more than a decade after he claimed to be Clark Rockefeller, an heir to the famous dynasty. The deception was described as "the longest con in FBI history." He eventually married Sandra Boss, a millionaire with a Harvard MBA and a partner at the prestigious business consulting firm McKinsey & Co. After losing custody of their daughter during the divorce, Rockefeller kidnapped the girl during a supervised visit in July 2008. The abduction and Rockefeller's apprehension after the safe retrieval of his daughter drew nationwide attention and led to the discovery of his real identity. At a trial this spring, Gerhartsreiter was sentenced to four to five years in prison for the kidnapping.

Day at the Pool

Day at the Pool

What if we found out it wasn't actually Shakespeare who wrote A Midsummer Night's Dream? Or if electricity was really discovered by someone other than Edison? A Day at the Pool puts forth an almost equally far fetched hypothesis as it examines the origins of skateboarding. Directors Eric Fulford and Ian Douglass film, Day at the Pool, challenges the validity the 2001 documentary, Dogtown and Z-Boys and it's mainstream account of skateboarding history. A series of interviews with many of the original Z-Boys, including Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Skip Engblom and Stacy Peralta, reveal the existence of a local talent who was skating inside swimming pools before any of the ‘original' pioneers, credited as the sport's founders. Several Z-Boys testify to witnessing a young skateboarder perform maneuvers so profoundly amazing, not even the modern day skate masters could possibly attempt them. The film goes on to present a surprising account of history that first reveals the skateboarder's identity, and then exposes the Z-Boys selfish motivation for keeping his story secret.

Pope Francis - A Pope for Everyone

Pope Francis - A Pope for Everyone

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is the first Jesuit Cardinal and Latin American to be consecrated Pope of the Catholic Church. On March 13, 2013, the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires and now Pope Francis made history by being elected to replace Benedict, who stepped down in abdication. In his first address as Pope, Francis humbly asked: "And now let us begin this journey, Bishop and people. A path of brotherhood in love, of mutual trust. Pray for us always, and for one another. Let us pray for the whole world, that there might be a great sense of brotherhood. And now I would give the blessing, but first I want to ask you a favor. Before the Bishop blesses the people, I ask that you pray for the Lord to bless me. The prayer of the people for their Bishop. Let us say this prayer - your prayer for me - in silence". In this important work is a documentary that exposes the keen thinking and humility that guides the life of Francis, his simple lifestyle close to the village, and his deep knowledge of theology. With these qualities Bergoglio has earned the trust and sympathy not only of the faithful, but also of much of the public. These remarkable attributes trace the path to his consecration as our Pope. This documentary shows the particular style of Bergoglio, his years as head of the Catholic Church in Argentina, and aimed at the construction of a new age of religion for the world. After his consecration and since the early days, Pope Francisco shows a clear intent to drive the structure of the Catholic Church with an austere attitude, with strong social concern and a clear intention to promote a new relationship between man and God.

Mann im Spagat: Pace, Cowboy, Pace

Mann im Spagat: Pace, Cowboy, Pace

Cowboy, employed by the Agency for World Inhalation, is on a mission to purify the world’s breath with the help of homemade bed chains, levitated water and his Senior Intern. In theory, this shouldn’t be a problem in his neighborhood. But times are changing. Cowboy can’t do anything but watch when Tschick McQueen and his partner Angel start a courier service right across the street. They must be out to sabotage his plans, right? He has to take action against those gas guzzling pollution machines whose fumes kill his mom’s budgie. So naturally he sets out to start a courier service of his own: A bicycle courier service, staffed entirely by Berlin misfits. And to kick it all off, he stages a cross-town charity bicycle rally. But there is another reason behind Cowboy’s efforts. Cowboy doesn’t want his mother to end up as a guinea pig in a shady, maybe even unsafe, retirement home. No! His mother belongs in the Soho Savoy Ritz, the reinvigorating rest home for well-off dignified agers. Even Elvis is there, in the form of a dancing laser hologram. Of course this means Cowboy needs cash, ideally from which his courier service is set to earn. And when the World Agency sends beautiful and smart Fey of Sweden as their representative, things get going fast. Fey supports Cowboy as best as she can and the only thing she asks in return is a transcendent change of mind. How hard can it be? Torn between Cowboy’s budding crush on Fey, his hot neighbor Angel and his innate drive towards chaos, the rally soon turns into a race against time. His mother will soon be taken away from him. And now those bicycle couriers are doing anything other than the one thing they’re supposed to be doing: cycling. Meanwhile, after several failed attacks on Cowboy, Tschick and Angel set the Devil of Hermannplatz on him. But that’s nothing compared to the thundercloud that’s chasing him around. Not to mention Cowboy’s own penchant for knocking himself out.
