The Darien Gap

His married friends Dick and Linda (Tony Roberts and Diane Keaton) fix him up with several eligible young ladies, but his self-confidence is so weak that he's a total failure with them all. Eventually, Allen discovers that there is one woman he's himself with: Linda, his best friend's wife. The final scene is a terrific takeoff on "Casablanca's" classic ending, complete with roaring plane propellers, heavy fog and Bogart-style trench coats.

This would turn into the deadliest wildfire in California history, burning most of the homes in the community.The Camp Fire absolutely devasted the Paradise community. Search and rescue efforts turned out to be only search and recovery. After the fire, thousands of people in the Paradise area are trying to figure out how to rebuild and if it does, can it ever be the same? Many have to make the painstaking choice to leave while others find a way to stay in the area and even rebuild.The courage of these survivors radiates not only in their efforts to save their neighbors and themselves, but also in their unwavering resolve to heal, to care for their neighbors, and to hold onto hope for the future.

This farewell Laurel & Hardy film at the Hal Roach Studios was nostalgic, almost on par with A CHUMP AT OXFORD. Critics loved the lively, old-fashioned slapstick. Thereafter, Roach allowed his deal with Laurel & Hardy to lapse, and while both the partnership and studio flirted with the idea of reuniting to produce more movies, and eventually TV programs, strokes suffered by the two comedy giants in the mid-1950s finally made any such plans impossible. Directed by Mr. Roach’s protégé, Gordon Douglas. With James Finlayson and Rychard Cramer. Plus former Mack Sennett silent star Ben Turpin, and Harry Bernard, close friend of Charley Chase; all three of whom died shortly after the picture was issued to movie theaters.
